When is it Best to Design Websites in Black?

Colour is important to design, especially in designing for the web. many shops use the web as a sales tool now & using the correct colours can generate more sales, although picking the wrong colours can mean that fewer users & fewer sales.
Finding out about the psychology of colour is crucial for all website designers if they want to compose a successful web-site. This is because different colours affect humans in different ways, & can influence emotions & moods. this means that your colour choice could upset your users if you don't get it right.
Colour can also be used to guide users to a specific area of the page. For example, you may want a user to click the purchase now button, which means that making it bold is extremely vital.
Here's a guide to how different colours influence & affect humans:
White is a minimalist colour. linked to simplicity, cleanliness & purity, it can be used to highlight images.
Yellow is linked with comfort, liveliness, energy and joy. it is a vibrant colour that can be used to highlight specific areas on a web page.
The colour red can summon feelings of passionate, courage and strength. it is a strong colour and if used in small doses, it's great for highlighting points.
The colour black can be linked to death, mourning, power and style. many metal bands use black as their main colour due to its associations with death and evil.
Yellow summons visions of summer, joy and optimism. its a colour that can be overwhelming and if used in conjunction with black, it creates a warning feel.
Just like yellow, red is associated with love, sex and energy. it can also be overpowering if overused, although its fabulous to attract attention.
Grey can be linked with respect, humility, decay and boredom. it's used a lot to form shiny gradients in designing for the world wide web to give a slick, futuristic feel to a web site.
Orange is strongly related to spirituality and healing. it's the colour that represents Buddhism and its a calming energy about it. it's a bold colour that is not as lively as yellow yet not a deep as red.
Brown, particularly the the lighter end can have a calming effect.
Beige is also a popular colour in designing web sites because it provides an earthy and relaxed feel. it might also mean tradition, poverty and nature.
Grey can be linked to refinement, innovation and the future. The paler side is similar to white in that it's a fabulous colour to use on a website's background to form a sense of space and modernism.
It is evident that colours do not just make a website look alluring, although they also have an underlying effect of user experience and can thus dictate how successful a site can be. getting the colours right can create a web site that users can identify and will make them more willing to use, explore and promote the web site to friends. picking incorrect colours can accidentally put users off and have them leave your site for somebody elses.

Inspiration

"If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, you are a leader." ~ John Quincy Adams

Creativity

I have often wondered why most companies have a creative department with a limited number of people, usually a very small percentage of the people which are on the payroll.
Every department in a company is a creative department as long as the department has people in it. All people are creative. Creativity has its root in the creator which is within each of us. As you permit the higher side of your nature to express itself in a greater way for good in your life, you are being creative.
There are an enormous number of people who deprive themselves of many of the joys life offers because they believe they are not creative.
"Musicians are creative, writers, artists and designers are creative but I'm not."
You should realize there are creative auto-mechanics, carpenters, secretaries and warehouse people. There are lawyers, accountants and dentists who are creative.
Creativity has absolutely nothing to do with what you do but it has everything to do with how you do it. William James said, "Creativity is the ability to think in unhabitual ways."
Pay particular attention today to the various people you come in contact with. Observe closely how these people apply themselves to their jobs.
Some will be an absolute symphony in every move they make. It will be obvious they have given creative thought to their work while others move in a very mechanical way. If they are asked to do anything which may be out of the norm you may very well hear the reply, "I'm sorry, that is not my job." There are definite self-imposed limitations to their activity.
They have never learned that they are a truly dynamic being with limitless creative potential in every fiber of their being. Nor have they learned that this creative potential is awaiting recognition from them.
You have the opportunity to express your creativity staring you in the face every minute. If you haven't begun to express it, do so today.

What is Brain/Ear Reference ??

We know that hearing and listening are two different facts. For instance if we don't know Chinese, we will not understand if somebody speaking Chinese (Yes sure, yeah :-)) Not so much familiar people may confuse French versus Italian. By the same logic, as an example if we don't know viola sound well, we may confuse it quite easily with a violin playing at upper octaves or with a cello playing at the lower octaves. If we are not so much familiar with a live acoustic sound of a violin, we can not identify which record or which equipment reproduces the most natural sounds.
Hearing happens 24 hours a day even in sleeping mode. Otherwise we wouldn't be able to hear our alarm clock or screaming of our boy. Our brain scans every sound but rejects unimportant ones for the one. Brain does not only scan and select the sounds, but processes them actively. If a viola sound is heard, brain recall the memory, compare with experiences and historical events and decide if it is viola or not. Listening, in other words can be described as active hearing. If brain does not participated to the process, it is called hearing but not listening.
Have you listened your recorded voice ?, You liked it ? Was that similar to your voice or quite different. Everybody else will agree that it is your voice except you ! Our voice is transmitted to a listener directly via his/her ear but it is transmitted to us by internal vibrations as well as externally by ear, so sounds different. This is the brain reference. Brain reference for our voice is what we heard in our life.
Brain will decide if the sound is coming from piano or from a violin. The fact for such a judgement is our memory. If someone who did not listen piano in live acoustic concert properly, his brain reference for piano will be the one "was listened in a good hi-end system", may be his own system. He will obviously distinguish the piano sound immediately but may not like it or may not find it realistic or natural. If this is the case, how do we choose our equipments and how we will realize which system or component is better ? Is the only way to trust Stereophile or Absolute Sound writers, I believe the key element is to attend live acoustic concerts (not amplified) as much as possible and locate to the performers as close as possible. This is a must to adjust our brain references.
A couple of examples here. A friend who visited us heard my daughter who was playing piano in her room, went to her room. He did not like the sound of the piano at all. He said that a piano can not be such a dark and dull. No inner details, no resolution nothing !! Our piano surely can not play at the same league with a long Steinway&Sons but it is a live piano, live music and we are only few centimetres away. I know he likes such piano records that the mikes were located inside of the piano body and every inner timbre was recorded and boosted. Even the musician himself can not hear such details. His brain reference served him his memory of piano sounds and once he listened a real piano, he found it unrealistic.
Years ago, when I commenced attending the regular concerts of Istanbul Symphony Orchestra, I found the sound do dull at that time. The sound was as if covered by a cloth. Mid and upper frequencies were not exist. Timpani and the big drum was kicked like hell but their sounds were not killing powerful. I got used to it in time and perceived the neutrality and the purity of the non coloured sounds. A couple of months ago I invited an audiophile friend who does not attend to acoustic concerts. He was shocked. He told that the entire orchestra was covered by something, there was no details and upper frequencies, sound was so soft and gentle. He said that he can not perceive the violins, rustles of soprano, drums are not shaking the floor. We were located only at the 8.th raw. During the entire concert, he strived to find the reasons but never judged his brain references. It is obvious that we will not like our systems each other due to our expected sounds and brain reference points are different.
May be the last example that; years ago, we visited an audiophile friend for a long listening session. He is very good audiophile and very good music listener too. He used to have very good systems. Please see his system for more details ; Mufit Olcar We listened mostly classics for hours and admired the sound of the system. When we wanted to try our own reference CD's (Patricia Barbers, etc) his system sink and disappointed us. Actually we should have judged our own brain references but not the system. We had coloured our systems to achieve more details but estranged by neutrality.
We, most of the audiophiles make this fault unconsciously. We load our brain references with wrong information then accuse better systems, better equipments, better sounds even better records. We don't like the sounds of better systems, we can not come to an agreement or can not compromise on fundamentals due to our own particular brain references

Seven Ways to Attract More Money

Seven Ways to Attract More Money
by Dr. Joe Vitalehttp://www.mrfire.com/

Want to attract more money?
Wondering why you haven't attracted it when you've done everything you thought you needed to do?
What really works when it comes to attracting more money, anyway?
I've been studying the Law of Attraction for more than three decades. I've written several books about it, including The Attractor Factor and The Key. That's why I ended up in the movie The Secret, and then on Larry King and Donny Deutsch's televison shows, among others. I know how the Law of Attraction works, and I know why so many people don't clearly understand it.
When it comes to the Law of Attraction, most people want to learn how to use it to attract more money first. After that, they'll wonder how to attract romance, cars, homes, happiness, and everything else. But money is the starting place for most people.
So, how do you attract more money?
When it comes to attracting anything -- and money in particular -- there are seven ways to do it right. Here they are:

1. Give Money Away
It sounds counter-intuitive but the more you give, the more you will receive (unless you block the receiving, which ties into the next step). Give openly and freely to wherever you received spiritual nourishment. Give on a regular basis, too. The rule of thumb is to give 10% of whatever you receive, but it's also smart to give more when you feel inspired to do so.
Remember, give to the person, place, or group that has kept your spirit alive. Just ask "Where was I most inspired this past week?" and give to that source. And ask the question daily or weekly as the source will often change.
Here's an inside tip: When most people give money, they do it with a tight fist. They don't give much. Why not? Because they're afraid. They're holding on. Well, the energy of fear will attract more things to fear. Instead, give money with an open heart and an expectation of return. Give in love.

2. Get Clear
Most people push money away with their hidden limiting beliefs, such as "money is bad" or "rich people are evil." Those are beliefs, not facts. Get clear of them and money will come to you (as long as you also do the next step).
Getting clear is truly "The Missing Secret" to making the Law of Attraction work for you all the time. After all, it isn't your conscious intentions that are being manifested in your life, it is your un-conscious counter-intentions.
For example, when you set a goal on New Year's day to stop smoking or date more, what happened the next week? You gave up your conscious goal for your un-conscious belief that you couldn't do it. You weren't in alignment with your intention. You werent' "clear."
Most likely in your unconscious mind you have limiting beliefs about money, such as -
a.. "Money is evil."b.. "Money will attract problems."c.. "Money will make me a selfish person."d.. "Wanting money is greedy."e.. "Rich people are snobs."
If you have one or more of those limiting beliefs within you, do you really think you'll attract any money? In truth, you'll attract NOT having money.
Why? Because your unconscious counter-intention ("Money is bad") will veto your conscious intention ("I now attract more money into my life").
Is it any wonder some people say the movie The Secret or the Law of Attraction doesn't work? Obviously, once you clear those hidden blocks/beliefs to your success, your success has nothing in the way of happening. The roadblocks are gone.
I talk about ways to get clear in my new audioprogram, "The Missing Secret." One thing you can do right now is to simply question your beliefs. Become a belief detective and look for those limiting beliefs about money. When you release your inner blocks, you will attract more money.

3. Take Action
Too many people sit and wait for money to materialize in front of them. I believe in magic and miracles, but I also believe that your role in the process of attracting money is to actually do something to bring it your way. Act on your ideas. Now. "Money likes speed" is my favorite mantra.
If you don't act now, you'll see your idea manifested in a store some day and somebody else will be attracting money from it. What can you do right now, today, to move toward creating something that will attract more money? Whatever it is, do it.
When you doubt and second-guess yourself instead of taking action, you are demonstrating that you aren't yet clear (see second tip above) about money and your right to attract it. Act now and get rich.

4. Support a Cause
Most people push money away because they don't feel they deserve it. One way around this (while you still work on getting clear inside yourself) is to want money for a larger purpose. I created Operation YES to end homelessness. Raising hundreds of thousands of dollars (or more) for that cause will remove any remaining prosperity limitations within me. While I won't receive a dime from Operation YES, my working on its behalf will attract money to me in other ways, such as the contacts and goodwill I'll create.
In short, want money for a larger reason than your own ego. This is a beautiful way to attract more money without wanting it only for yourself. Realize that when you are wealthy, you are better able to help family, friends, your community, and even the world. A good reason to attract more money is for all the good it can do for others, not just you. Ask yourself what cause would you support (or even create) once you attracted more money?

5. Get Support
One of the wisest things you can do to achieve any goal is create or join a master mind group devoted to it. I co-authored Meet and Grow Rich with Bill Hibbler for this reason: to teach you how to create a support group.
The idea is to be around people who can keep your energy and inspiration high. While you can make progress alone, it's so much easier when you have support.
This support can also come in the way of audiotapes, books, and other learning tools. I've been buying audios from Nightingale-Conant for more than thirty years for just that reason: it helps me stay focused on constantly growing and improving. Even when I was struggling, I went to the library and borrowed books and tapes to keep me informed and inspired. Today I can afford to buy my own materials, but it's only because I invested in my education every step along the way.
I created "The Missing Secret" audio set to help people understand the practical use of the Law of Attraction. Again, all of this is support in helping you attract more money.
6. Be Grateful
This is huge. Be thankful for the money you have - which is probably considered true wealth by people starving in third world countries - and you'll begin to attract more money. Gratitude sends off a signal of appreciation, which brings to you more to be thankful for. Begin with whatever is in this moment that you can be sincerely grateful for.
After I was homeless and while I was still experiencing poverty, I began this exercise by holding a pencil and being grateful for it. Once I truly experienced gratitude, it shifted my energy vibe so I could then experience more to be grateful for. Today I have much to be thankful for - from houses to cars to collectible guitars -- but it all began with a pencil.
Look around and ask yourself what you are grateful for right now. Then get into that feeling.

7. Do what you Love
There's no sense in working at something you hate. If you are currently at a job you don't like, find a way to enjoy it for the time you are there while working towards doing your passion. Following your passion is the greatest secret of all when it comes to attracting wealth.
Everyone from Donny Deutsch to Donald Trump to Bill Gates to little ole me agree that passion (combined with the other steps above) is your ticket to financial freedom. Even when I worked for oil companies back in Houston and didn't like my work, I found ways to do what I loved. I wrote my first book on my lunch hours. I spoke on weekends and sold my book in the back of the room. Over time, doing what I love became my life. And today it's my moment by moment wonder.
Ask yourself what you would do even if you were never paid. That's a clue to what you should be doing and of course finding a way to be paid for it. You can attract more money from love.
Finally, expect success.
The mindset of expectation - expecting that you are now attracting money and playfully looking around, asking "I wonder how big money will come to me today?" - will keep your brain turned on to seek and find opportunities. You of course then have to take fearless action when you see them.
Go for it!
Dr. Joe Vitale

Decision

Accurate analysis of over 25,000 men and women who had experienced failure, disclosed the fact that lack of decision was near the head of the list of the 30 major causes of failure. This is no mere statement of a theory – it is a fact.
Procrastination, the opposite of decision, is a common enemy which practically every man must conquer.
You will have an opportunity to test your capacity to reach quick and definite decisions when you finish reading this lesson, and are ready to begin putting into action the principles which it describes.
Analysis of several hundred people who had accumulated fortunes well beyond the million dollar mark, disclosed the fact that every one of them had the habit of reaching decisions promptly, and of changing these decisions slowly, if, and when they were changed. People who fail to accumulate money, without exception, have the habit of reaching decisions, if at all, very slowly, and of changing these decisions quickly and often.
The majority of people who fail to accumulate money sufficient for their needs, are, generally, easily influenced by the “opinions” of others. They permit the newspapers and the “gossiping” neighbors to do their “thinking” for them. “Opinions” are the cheapest commodities on earth. Everyone has a flock of opinions ready to be wished upon anyone who will accept them. If you are influenced by “opinions” when you reach decisions, you will not succeed in any undertaking, much less in that of transmuting your own desire into money.
If you are influenced by the opinions of others, you will have no desire of your own.

7 Ways to Eat Meat and Stay Healthy

Lots of heart-conscious consumers and waist watchers have recently rehabbed their steak knives, having found that -- hang onto your knife sharpener -- eating a little red meat doesn't necessarily put you on the fast track to Fat Central. It's not the meat itself; it's the aging, artery-clogging, cholesterol-soaring, saturated fat in meat that you want to minimize. Here's how:
1. Select the best. When you're shopping for meat, choose cuts labeled USDA Select Grade; they have less fat than Choice and Prime.
2. Go lean. Choose packages labeled "lean" or "extra lean" whenever possible. Lean means the meat has fewer than 8.5 grams of fat per 3-ounce serving; extra lean has fewer than 4 grams.
3. Stay on the grass. Try to buy meat labeled "grass fed" or "pasture raised." It may have 25% to 50% less fat, fewer calories, and more heart-healthy omega-3s than regular grain-fed meat. (It also suggests the animal was raised humanely.)
4. Slice away. Trim external fat before cooking, and use that well-sharpened knife to remove any fat that's still there once it's on your plate. Doing so can slash fat intake by as much as half.
5. Keep it separate. Broil, grill, or roast meat on grills or pans that drain away fat.
6. Towel off. To remove both grease and calories, blot meatballs and burgers with paper towels after cooking.
7. Know your limits. Minimize meat-centered meals. RealAge recommends no more than one serving of red meat a week. One serving, says the USDA, is the size of a deck of cards, or about 3 ounces. How big is the payoff when you lose the fat but keep the meat? How would you like to see fewer candles on your birthday cake next year? Eating a low-fat diet -- and eating healthful unsaturated fats when you do eat fat -- can make your RealAge as much as 6 years younger.

5 Reasons to Relish Tomatoes

You know that rhyme every kid learns how to finish: "An apple a day . . ." Make that “A tomato a day” -- it may be even better at keeping problems away. Although tomatoes have gotten a bit of rotten press lately as their role in reducing the risk of prostate cancer has hit the "lack of evidence" skids, there's still abundant reason to overindulge. Tomatoes are stellar sources of vitamins A and C, folate, potassium, fiber, and all kinds of protective antioxidants. And organic tomatoes are even better -- when they're grown without chemicals, tomatoes contain much higher amounts of flavonoids, which have antioxidant, antiviral, and anti-inflammatory properties. Here are five healthy reasons to add tomatoes to breakfast omelets, lunch sandwiches, and dinner sauces and salads:

1. Lower your blood pressure. Try snacking on cherry tomatoes while driving your kid’s carpool or prepping for your Toastmasters speech. These fruits (yes, tomatoes are fruits, not veggies) may keep your blood pressure in check. In just 8 weeks, people with mild hypertension who got a daily "dose" of tomatoes saw their systolic blood pressures (the top number) drop a whopping 10 points on average, and their diastolic blood pressures (the bottom number) drop by 4 points.

2. Avoid colds and flu. When men who are deficient in carotenoids (like lycopene and beta carotene) drink tomato juice regularly, they bump up their ability to fend off bacteria and viruses. However, the immunity-boosting effects take a while to kick in. So if you start upping your T-juice intake today, you may stay a step ahead of sore throats and colds tomorrow.

3. Save your skin. Who knew this thin-skinned fruit would make a terrific natural sunscreen? But people who include lycopene-rich tomato paste in their diets for at least 10 weeks get much less intense sunburns when they're exposed to UV light -- another reason to enjoy all those tomato-sauced dishes that are staples of Mediterranean diets.

4. Control cholesterol. A tomato a day may keep artery and heart problems at bay. Four weeks of daily tomato munching can increase good HDL cholesterol by 15% while lowering artery-clogging LDL cholesterol.

5. Fight aging. Tomatoes are rich in two spectacular antiaging free-radical squelchers: lycopene and beta carotene. In some cells, these antioxidants reduce free-radical damage to DNA by 42%. Both youth-protecting nutrients are enhanced when tomatoes are heated or eaten with a little fat, like olive oil. These two yummy recipes fit the bill: Grilled Pizza with Pesto, Tomatoes and Feta and Fresh Pomodoro Pasta, White Beans and Olives (both are from our friends at EatingWell).

All of these tomato-triggered benefits can reduce your RealAge, but blood pressure is a particular biggie. Keep it low (115/76 or less) and you can make your RealAge as much as 12 years younger!

5 Way to Staying Young- Dr. Oz

5 ways to Staying Young with Dr. Oz Anti-Aging Checklist on ‘Oprah’ TV show

[Best Syndication] On today’s ‘Oprah’ TV show we received quite a lot of information from Dr. Oz about ways that you can reverse aging. Through diet and exercise and lifestyle habits you can easily put into place an anti-aging plan.
Oprah is 54 years old and she said it has hit her like a bulldozer. You have to work harder just to stay in shape. In January Bob Greene has started this year’s ‘Best Life Diet.’
The Anti-Aging Ultimate Checklist is summarized as follows:

1. Food
2. Exercise
3. Meditate
4. Sleep and Sex
5. Vitamins

The popular series health books that have been co-authored by Dr. Memhet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen have been bestsellers. More discussion about anti-aging and reversing your age is discussed in their book, “You: Staying Young the Owners Manual for extending your Warranty.”
What foods should be in your refrigerator?

1. Antioxidants help to prevent damage during the process of oxidation. Dr. Oz uses the example of an apple turning brown when the air hits it but if you put on lemon juice it will prevent the oxidation from occurring. Dr. Oz showed us foods that are rich with antioxidants which are blueberries which he said are also referred to brainberries. Dark colored foods help to carry antioxidants. Five fistfuls of antioxidant rich foods a day. Colorful foods often are full of antioxidants.

2. Broccoli is beneficial in more than one way. Dr. Oz explains that this vegetable can help lower cancer risk. Oprah said that broccoli can also help the thyroid as well.

3. Dr. Oz continued to explain that tomatoes when they are heated up with a little oil will help to deliver the lycopene, which is another antioxidant.

4. Acai is a fruit that comes from the Rainforest in South America. It is loaded with antioxidants.

5. Green or White Tea was recommended by Dr. Oz . He suggested that you drink 4 cups of green or white tea each day. Polyphenols and catechins are found in the teas that are believed to contribute to health benefits. Green tea is very young and it that hasn’t been dried much, while white tea is not dried at all which is hopefully going to improve the antixodiant health benefits.

6. Red Wine was recommended by Dr. Oz and suggested that 1 glass or serving was enough to help with getting resveratrol which helps in preventing your cells from aging. Dark grape juice will also have some resveratrol. Light colored grapes don’t offer the same kind of benefits.
Dr. Roizen co-author with Dr. Oz has created a test that he gave all of the audience members. The test is also available for free on their website at: http://www.realage.com/reg/regvar/st1.aspx?mod=LONGFORM

They had a 60 year old lady that Dr. Roizen said that she is closer to 48 years old. She looked really young. She has kept up with yoga for over 22 years. She does belly dancing too. She has a passion of reading and writing regularly.
Another lady was 63 years old and Dr. Roizen said that she is barely 50 years old based on her real age score. She looks great, but had a little bit of grey hair and wrinkles. Dr. Roizen said that she meditates for a long time, she sleeps well, and eats a balanced diet. Her passion in life is riding horses regularly. Dr. Roizen said that having a passion in life is worth 8 years of your anti-aging goals.
Another woman is 44 years old, but rates at almost 60 years old with the real age test. She is a smoker that does not exercise and has a lot of stress both at home and at work. She doesn’t deal well with the stress. She has smoked for over 30 years. They offered to pass her the blueberries, because she said to pass the blueberries. She gets the blueberries and said jokingly that she is not going to share this with the other audience members.

Spices full of anti-aging secrets.
Cinnamon can decrease blood sugar levels and lower cholesterol levels, especially in those that have type 2 diabetes.
Ginger can decrease your blood pressure, alleviate arthritis pain by reducing inflammation, and reduce your risk of cancer
Tumeric can also help arthritis sufferers. Tumeric can be found in Curry. Curry has been shown to relieve arthritis pain, and prevent Alzheimer’s disease.
Paprika and Cayenne Pepper has been shown to help reduce high blood pressure and to also improve circulation.
Rosemary is very important for learning. Dr. Oz showed Oprah rosemary and explained that it makes you smarter because it helps you focus.
Spices that are dried have almost the same effect as the fresh ones said Dr. Oz.
Fiber is important. Dr. Oz showed a bowl of steel cut oatmeal because you get more fiber that way. Instead of using hot water use apple juice said an audience member, it tastes really good prepared that way. Dr. Oz said to stay away from white flour. He showed artichoke pasta that has extra fiber.
Dr. Oz said that it has to say 100 percent whole grain to really be worth eating. He recommends eating beans for a good source of fiber.
A lady in the audience asked Dr. Oz about when she changed her diet and had to go bathroom at the most in-opportune time. She wants to know how to incorporate more fiber into her diet without the side effects of having to go bathroom all the time. Dr. Oz said that you have to work build up your dietary foundation of fiber intake a little bit at a time. If you use Beano it can help prevent gas from eating beans. Not mentioned on the show but equally important, adequate water intake can also be helpful when eating more dietary fiber.
Dr. Oz found chia seeds are full of fiber that come from South America. He gave Oprah a cupcake made with Chia. It adds more fiber and Omega 3 fatty acids. Oprah said that she takes the Flax seeds whole. Dr. Oz said that you have to grind up the flax seed to get the benefits of the Omega 3 fatty acids. You grind it up to get the healthy fats out of the foods. You can also get Omega 3 in walnuts. Fish has Omega 3 from spiralina algae. Dr. Oz made guacamole with spiralina algae. Oprah tasted it and it looked black in color, not that appealing. She said it wasn’t that bad.
Olive oil you need 1 – 2 tablespoon every day. Dr. Oz said that you should put the food in the olive and then put it in the pan. If you heat the oil to much it will cause the healthy oil to be damaged.
Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen said that the next part of the anti-aging battle is exercise. Another audience member asked Dr. Oz why she keeps gaining weight despite her exercising and eating healthy. Dr. Oz said to consider your waist as her health assessment and not necessarily the scale. She could have gained weight from exercising and muscle increase. He had her come onto the stage, and said that she probably is not pushing herself enough. He showed us how to calculate a heart rate formula to work within for cardiovascular exercise. The formula is take 220 and subtract your age. Take this result and multiply it by .80. This gives you your target heart rate. Her ideal heart rate is 140 beats per minute. She had her target heart rate goal be reached too fast and Dr. Oz thinks that she needs to work more on her fitness.
Dr. Oz showed exercises that can help build muscle mass. He demonstrated the front lunge. Don’t let your knee pass over your toe. The next is to do leg lifts by laying your back on the floor and lifting your legs off the ground to strengthen your core stomach area. Next he showed how to do pull ups. You can by a bar at home to install so you will have one easily accessible. He had a hard time originally doing pull-ups originally but he has worked up to around 20 of them after working at it. Dr. Oz did 21 pull-ups on the show.
Get the heart rate up to your target at least 3 times a week and do strength training 30 minutes weekly. You should always consult with your doctor before beginning any kind of exercise program as a pre-cautionary measure.
Dr. Oz said that you need to be flexible. You should be able to touch the floor. He showed various yoga poses; the plank, the up dog, the downward facing dog, salutation, and warrior pose. He also recommends tree pose for improving balance. He said to say yummmm and meditate during the yoga poses. Dr. Oz said to do it in your bathroom so that nobody will find you their. Prayer is mediation. You need a few moments to yourself.
Lack of sleep is aging us, said Dr. Oz. You need to get sleep to rejuvenate ourselves. Lack of sleep will strip years off of your age. When the sun went down before modern civilization we naturally slipped into sleep. He recommends recreating this by having a routine that quiets us down instead of stimulating us right before bedtime. He said if you don’t floss your teeth you could reduce your lifespan by 5 years.
Dr. Oz said that you need sex with your partner 2 to 3 times a week. Women benefits by getting a boost in oxytocin, and men get more testosterone. Dr. Oz joked to sleep naked and to install mirrors.
Oprah wanted to know more about vitamins. Dr. Oz discussed vitamin D. The biggest deficiency is with vitamin D. Take 1000 IU he suggests. Over half of all Americans are deficient in Vitamin D. This vitamin has been associated with preventing cancer, reducing heart problems, changing the outcomes risk factors for multiple sclerosis, and also risk factors associated with deficiencies in juvenile diabetes. Because of the sunscreen that is used in our society, even people in the south are getting less vitamin D from the sun.

Calcium with magnesium is important. Calcium supplements will constipate you, but the magnesium will help prevent that.
DHA omega 3 fish oil supplements he recommended.
Dr. Oz discussed multi-vitamins. He said to cut the vitamins in half with one being taken in the morning and one in the evening. Menstruating and pre-menopausal women will need some iron supplements. Pre-menopausal women take no more than 5000 IU of vitamin A. Men and post-menopausal women should take no more than 2500 IU of Vitamin A and they need no iron supplements. The multi-vitamin Dr. Oz recommends will be listed on Oprah.com.

Here is the checklist printout link for Dr. Oz anti-aging checklist sheet:
http://www.oprah.com/download/pdfs/health/oz/oz_antiaging_checklist.pdf

Dr. Oz said to take 2 baby Aspirin a day for those over the age of 40 to take this daily regimen. There is a chance of intestinal discomfort. Might Heart disease, cancer, wrinkles. It is a powerful anti-inflammatory drug.
Does it matter which multi-vitamin you should take. On the Oprah website they recommend the amounts that would be helpful.
The popular series health books that have been co-authored by Dr. Memhet Oz and Dr. Michael Roizen have been bestsellers. More discussion about anti-aging and reversing your age is discussed in their book, “You: Staying Young the Owners Manual for extending your Warranty.”

Dr. Oz Advice

Forget the fad diets. Stop counting carbs. Dr. Mehmet Oz has teamed up with Dr. Michael Roizen to develop a diet plan that they say really works.
Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen have already helped millions live longer, look younger and become smarter patients. Now, they want to teach you how to lose weight and waist once and for all. The goal is to shrink your waist down to the ideal size—32 and a half inches for women and 35 inches for men—and make eating so easy, you never realize you’re dieting!
In the book YOU: On a Diet, Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen explain why the body stores blubber and how cutting just 100 calories a day can help you lose a pound per month!
Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen studied people who lost weight and kept it off. They noticed that dieters who cut 400 calories a day ended up yo-yo dieting and regaining weight. Fasting shuts down your metabolism, Dr. Oz says, so when you bow to temptation and devour a candy bar, most of the calories are quickly deposited as fat.
Cutting 100 calories a day—the equivalent of a Granny Smith apple—is a dieting strategy that most people can sustain for a lifetime, he says.

5 Ingredients in Foods to avoid

The first step to getting on the path to better eating is to take stock of your pantry! Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen say there are five ingredients that should be banned from your diet forever.
The first ingredient to avoid is hydrogenated oil, which often masquerades as partially hydrogenated oil. Dr. Roizen says we should also eliminate sugar and high fructose corn syrup from our foods. “We eat 63 pounds of [high fructose corn syrup] a year, which puts 33 pounds on the typical American,” he says.
Enriched flour is the fourth ingredient to avoid. “[Enriched] means they took all the good stuff out and put a little back,” Dr. Roizen says. In 1960, Americans didn’t use enriched flour, but today we consume 63 pounds a year, he says.
The fifth offenders are white foods—including bleached flour. The only white items you should have in your fridge are egg whites, cauliflower and fish, Dr. Roizen says.
Your favorite snack foods won’t advertise their artificial ingredients—Oprah’s medical experts say you have to read the small print for yourself!
Supermarket Secrets: How to shop smarter at the food store
After you’ve read the ingredients on the label, check out how much saturated fat and sugar is in your food. Dr. Roizen says you want to buy foods that contain less than four grams of saturated fat and less than four grams of sugar per serving.
Keep in mind—polyunsaturated and monounsaturated fats are good for you and help fight depression.
Can’t seem to find any food that fits the bill? Dr. Oz says you should head over to the produce aisle and stock up on fresh fruits and vegetables. Packaged goods usually contain harmful, artificial ingredients because they’re designed to stay on the shelf for years, he says.
The supermarket shelves are filled with foods that seem healthy…but don’t be fooled. Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen say that 50 percent of the sugar we eat comes from “fat free” foods like salad dressings and soft drinks. In fact, young women get about half their daily calories from salad dressing! Dr. Oz says to substitute olive oil and vinegar for a healthier alternative.
Curb craving with salty, crunchy snacks
It’s 3 p.m. and you’re craving something sweet…and something salty. Before you put your quarters into the closest vending machine, consider some healthy alternatives to potato chips and candy bars.
When Dr. Oz wants to crush a craving, he relies on his emergency snacks, which he carries everywhere! “Emergency foods you want tend to be foods that are a little crunchy with some sweetness to them,” he says.
Apples, carrots and nuts are great snacks to consider. A glass of vegetable juice also takes the edge off, he says. One snack you may not have thought of are breath strips! “I like [breath strips] because, a lot of times, we have a craving center in our brain that says put something in me,” he says. “It doesn’t tell you what.”
Dr. Oz says a glass of water, a good night’s sleep or sex might also satisfy your craving center.
Another way to fight fat is to spice it up! Adding red pepper flakes or cinnamon to your food can reduce your appetite. Starting with a smaller plate also helps you eat 33 percent less, Dr. Oz says.
Breakfast is also a key component to Dr. Oz’s diet plan. “People who eat breakfast every day are thinner,” he says. “Jump start your metabolism with breakfast—don’t miss it!”
Dr. Roizen says people should try to automate their breakfast and lunch. “Why we get so fat is we have so many choices…we want one of everything,” he says.
For breakfast, Dr. Roizen says you should have the same thing or the same small variety of things every day. Steel-cut oatmeal, whole grain cereals and egg-white omelets are great options. Then, do the same thing at lunch. Find a lunch that’s satisfying and stick with it. Then, come dinner time, you can enjoy a variety of options!

Healthy Breakfast option on the go
When soggy cereal and steel-cut oatmeal loses its appeal, whip up one of Dr. Oz and Dr. Roizen’s favorite breakfast treats!
The Quick Magical Breakfast Blaster2 servings, 136 calories per serving
1 scoop (1/3 cup) Soy protein (like Nature’s Plus Spiru-Tein)1/2 tablespoon flaxseed oil1/4 cup frozen blueberries1/2 large ripe banana (or other fruits of your choice)1/2 tablespoon apple juice concentrate or honey1 teaspoon Psyillium seed husks
Peel banana; break into chunks. Put all ingredients in a blender. Add 12 ounces of water and ice, as well as powdered vitamins. Cover, blend until fairly smooth.

The Newest Treatment For Cough

The Newest Treatment For Cough

Mulberry treats for coughCough, a commonly-encountered disorder of pulmonary system during infancy, can be divided into exogenous cough and endogenous cough. Clinically exogenous cough is seen more frequently than endogenous cough. The disorder with cough as the main symptom following the occurrence of common cold pertains to trachitis and bronchitis in modern medicine. Cough may occur at any time in a year but more in winter and spring. Cough tends to be caused during the period of seasonal variation and sudden change of weather. The prognosis of this disorder is usually favourable. However, improper treatment and nursing may make it chronic or serious, and eventually leading to pneumonia.

Recipe1: Almond 10 gm, leaf of mulberry 10 gm, chrysanthemum 10 gm and an adequate amount of cane sugar.Administration: The first 3 herbs are boiled to prepare a tea for drinking after being mixed with sugar.Indication: This recipe can produce a good effect in treating cough due to attack of wind-heat pathogens to the lungs.

Recipe2: Dry Pipaye (loquat leaf) 10-15 gm (or fresh leaf 30-60 gin), rice 100 gm and an adequate amount of crystal sugar.Administration: A concentrated decoction of Pipaye is used to cook a gruel with rice and sugar for oral administration.Indication: This rice gruel can clear heat, resolve phlegm and treat cough due to phlegm and heat pathogens.

Recipe3: Fresh water chestnut 15 gm and jellyfish 30 gm.Administration: The cleaned jellyfish is cut into small pieces and boiled with fresh water chestnut over a slow fire for over one hour for oral administration.Indication: This recipe can tonify Yin, moisten the lungs and stop cough, to treat cough due to deficiency of Yin.

Recipe4: An adequate amount of tremella.Administration: The tremeila is ground into powder for oral administration at the rate of 5-10 gm, 2-3 times a day.Indication: Tremella is used to treat cough due to heat pathogens in the lungs with hemoptysis. Because the tremella is a tonic, it may not be used to treat cough due to wind-cold pathogens or damp-heat pathogens with phlegm. If you want to know more information, please clink to:http://net.zoosnet.net/LR/Chatpre.aspx?id=NET39826137Source:http://www.tcmadvisory.com/

Today I Will Make a Difference

Today I Will Make A Difference

I will begin by controlling my thoughts. A person is the product of their thoughts. I want to be happy and hopeful. Therefore, I will have thoughts that are happy and hopeful. I refuse to be victimized by my circumstances. I will not let petty inconveniences such as stoplights, long lines, and traffic jams be my masters. I will avoid negativism and gossip. Optimism will be my companion, and victory will be my hallmark. Today I will make a difference.

I will be grateful for the twenty-four hours that are before me. Time is a precious commodity. I refuse to allow what little time I have to be contaminated by self-pity, anxiety, or boredom. I will face this day with the joy of a child and the courage of a giant. I will drink each minute as though it is my last. When tomorrow comes, today will be gone forever. While it is here, I will use it for loving and giving. Today I will make a difference.

I will not let past failures haunt me. Even though my life is scarred with mistakes, I refuse to rummage through my trash heap of failures. I will admit them. I will correct them. I will press on. Victoriously. No failure is fatal. It's OK to stumble - I will get up. It's OK to fail - I will rise again. Today I will make a difference.

I will spend time with those I love. My spouse, my children, my family. A man can own the world but be poor for the lack of love. A man can own nothing and yet be wealthy in relationships. Today I will spend at least five minutes with the significant people in my world. Five quality minutes of talking or hugging or thanking or listening. Five undiluted minutes with my mate, children, and friends.

Today I will make a difference.

Health and Nutrition Of Fruits Therapy

Nutrition FruitsFruits can be divided into the flesh and preserved varieties.
Fresh fruits, such as apples, pears, peaches, haws, grapes, pineapples and bananas are the ones most commonly used in clinical practice; and the fruits of the latter group are prepared from the fresh fruits, including candied dates, dried persimmons and raisins.
The important nutritive components of flesh fruits are the vitamins (chiefly vitamin C) and inorganic salts. As analyzed by nutriologists, the content of vitamin C in fresh dates is as high as 540 gm %, and it can be 30-100 times this amount in other fruits and ordinary vegetables. The content of vitamin C is even higher in wild jujubes, sometimes reaching 850-1170 gm %. The absorptive ratio of vitamin C in the intestines may reach 86.3 %. Haws, tangerines and lemons are also rich in vitamin C. Red and yellow fruits, like apricots, oranges and tangerines, contain more carotin and inorganic salts, including calcium, phosphorus and iron.
Through the process of manufacture, preserved fruits may lose many oftheir vitamins, but the relative contents of proteins, carbohydrates and inorganic salts are increased after the marked loss of water from fresh fruits. For example, the contents of protein and carbohydrate in grapes are 0.7 % and11.5 %, but in raisins they are raised to 4.1% and 78.7 % respectively.
The iron and copper in fruits are useful for the production of hemoglobins in anemic patients. The high content of potassium and low content of sodium in fruits can produce a diuretic effect. Organic acids such as malic acid and citric acid can stimulate secretion of gastric acid and improve the digestion. Succinic acid contained in unripe fruits can produce a strong stimulation effect in the stomach and intestines.
Fruits can have a remarkable therapeutic effect. For example, haws can dilate blood vessels, lower blood pressure and blood cholesterol level, improve the heart function, inhibit and kill bacteria and improve the digestion. According to pharmacological studies, haws contain many flavone glycosides and complicated di- or polyflavanoids. The toxicity of polyflavanoids is low, and it can produce an apparent hypotensive and cordial effect. Flavone and derivatives of flavanoid can dilate coronary arteries and produce a sedative effect.
The fresh fruits and leaves of haws contain the precursor of diflavanoid, anthocyanidin, and catecuric acid and anthocyanidin may be produced after hydrolysis to improve contraction of the myocardium, increase blood flow in the coronary artery and prevent arrhythmia.
According to in vitro bacteriostatic experiments, haws can produce a strong inhibitory effect on Flexner's and Sonne Bacillus of dysentery, Bacillus proteus, Bacillus coli and Bacillus pyocyaneus. Recently, it has been discoveredthat haws can increase secretion of amylase and lipase in the stomach, and promote digestion.
Apples can both stop diarrhea and promote bowel movement. Mild diarrhea (except bacillary dysentery) can be stopped a few days after the intake of apple paste alone. The organic acids and tannic acid in apples can produce an astringent effect, and the pectine and cellulose in apples can absorb bacterial toxin to stop diarrhea; but the organic acids and cellulose can stimulate intestine and promote the motility of the stomach and intestines to treat constipation.
According to clinical observations, the increase of urine sugar in diabetic patients after eating bananas is not as remarkable as after the intake of other fruits. The ratio of glucose and fructose in bananas is 1:1, making them suitable for treating fatty diarrhea and intoxic indigestion. The abundant minerals in bananas are useful for correcting the disturbance of water and electrolyte metabolism. The 5- serotonin in bananas can reduce gastric acid and protect gastric mucosa from the stimulation of gastric acid. However, the overeating of bananas may cause dysfunction of the digestive system.Pears contain vitamin C, sugar, calcium, phosphorus and sodium, and they can be used with the correspondent specific medicines to treat pulmonary tuberculosis, acute or chronic bronchitis and upper respiratory infection with dryness and pain in throat, expectoration of profuse yellow sticky sputum and discharge of dark urine in short streams.
Ripe fruits contain more digestible sugar, like glucose, and are beneficial for the liver. Patients with liver diseases should eat more sweet fruits. Sour fruits, like plums, apricots, oranges and tangerines can cause spasms in the biliary tract, so patients with diseases of the liver or gallbladder should avoid eating sour fruits.

New Study of Vegetable Treatment (B)

New Study Of Vegetables Treatment(B)

VegetablesFresh beans: Lentils, young soya beans, peas, broad beans, cowpeas and kidney beans are included in this group of vegetables. They have higher contents of proteins, carbohydrates, vitamins and minerals than leaf vegetables. The iron in fresh beans is easily absorbed. Therefore, they are all highly nutritive vegetables.
In brief, vegetables contain small amounts of plant protein and fat, but the content of sugar varies greatly in different vegetables. Fresh vegetables contain various vitamins (vitamin C, vitamin B, and carotin) and minerals (calcium, phosphorus, iron and potassium). They also contain pectine, organic acids and a large amount of cellulose to stimulate peristalsis of the intestines. Some vegetables can produce a good therapeutic effect. For example, caraways can promote sweating and eruption of measles because they can promote peripheral blood circulation. The eruption of measles is induced by the promotion of peripheral blood circulation, invasion of viruses into the capillaries of the skin, proliferation of endothelial cells of capillaries and exudation of serum.
The capsicine in chillies (red peppers) can stimulate gastric and intestinal secretion, improve the appetite and digestive function, inhibit Bacillus cereus and hay bacillus (ineffective against Staphylococcus aureus and Bacillus coli), stimulate the taste receptors on the tongue and reflectively elevate blood pressure (especially diastolic pressure). The external application of chilli ointment may cause reflective dilation of local cutaneous blood vessels and improve local blood circulation, and tincture of chilli can be used to treat frostbite. Carrots rich in carotin can be used to treat night blindness, dryness of the eyes and rickets in children. They can also produce a cordial, anti-inflammatory and anti-allergic effect. As proved by pharmacological experiments, carrots with a hypoglycemic substance can be used to treat diabetes mellitus.

New Study of Vegetable Treatment (A)

New Study Of Vegetables Treatment(A):

VegetablesLeaf vegetables: Chinese cabbages (green and white), amaranths, spinach, shepherd's purse, leeks, celery and caraways are included in this group of vegetables. They are rich in carotin, vitamin C and vitamin B2. Green Chinese cabbage, amaranth, spinach and shepherd's purse are rich in carotin and vitamin C. For example, spinach contains 3.87 mg% of carotin, and amaranth from Sichuan Province contains 8.98 mg % of carotin. Leaf vegetables also contain minerals such as iron, which is not only rich in content but also easily absorbable. Therefore, they are an important part of the diet of anemic patients, pregnant women and breast feeding mothers.
The contents of protein, carbohydrate and fat are low in leaf vegetables, less than 2 %, 5 % and 0.5 % on average, respectively.
Leaf vegetables also contain folic acid, choline, calcium and phosphorus, but the high content of calcium in amaranth, spinach and bamboo shoots is combined with oxalic acid, making it difficult for the body to absorb. The high content of oxalic acid in vegetables can not only interfere with the absorption of calcium but also disturb the calcification of bones after soluble oxalates in food are absorbed by the body.
Therefore, infants, pregnant women and bone fracture patients should not take too many vegetables rich in oxalic acid.
Root and rhizome vegetables: Radishes, Chinese yams, lotus roots, potatoes, taros, sweet potatoes, garlic, greenonions, asparagus, lettuce and bamboo shoots belong to this group of vegetables containing different nutrients. The starch in potatoes, taros, lotus roots and sweet potatoes is as high as 15-30 %, and it is 29.5 % in sweet potatoes. The content of carotin in carrots is as high as 3.62 mg %. The contents of protein and fat in this group of vegetables are low, and theprotein in potatoes and taros is slightly higher (2 %) than that of other root and rhizome vegetables.
Different from leaf vegetables, many root vegetables can be taken as staple foodstuffs, because they contain a great deal" of sugar. Although the content of vitamin C in radishes and asparagus is not rich, the uncooked dishes of these vegetables can also supply lots of vitamin C because it is not destroyed in uncooked vegetables. According to pharmacological studies£¬the lignin in radishes can produce an anti-cancer effect. In addition, the potassium succinate in carrots can produce a hypotensive effect. The juice of fresh carrots is a health giving drink. If you want to know more information, please clink to:http://net.zoosnet.net/LR/Chatpre.aspx?id=NET39826137source:http://www.tcmadvisory.com/index.asp

Charismatic Leadership

Charismatic Leadership
by Dr. John C. Maxwell

William Gladstone and Benjamin Disraeli were two of the fiercest political rivals of the 19th century. Their epic battles for control of the British Empire were marked by intense animosity that spilled over from the public arena into their personal lives. Ambitious, powerful, and politically astute, both men were spirited competitors and masterful politicians.
Though each man achieved impressive accomplishments for Britain, the quality that separated them as leaders was their approach to people. The difference is best illustrated by the account of a young woman who dined with the men on consecutive nights. When asked about her impression of the rival statesmen, she said, "When I left the dining room after sitting next to Mr. Gladstone, I thought he was the cleverest man in England. But after sitting next to Mr. Disraeli, I thought I was the cleverest woman in England."
What distinguished Disraeli from Gladstone was charisma. Disraeli possessed a personal charm sorely lacking in the leadership style of his rival. His personal appeal attracted friends and created favorable impressions among acquaintances. Throughout his career, Disraeli's charisma gave him an edge over Gladstone.

UNDERSTANDING CHARISMA
Of all leadership attributes, charisma is perhaps the least understood. At first glance, charisma appears to be an invisible energy or magnetism. There's no denying its presence, but it's hard to put a finger on its source. Some mistakenly believe charisma is a birth trait—embedded in certain personalities, but completely absent in others.
I believe charisma is both explainable and learnable. I also believe charisma helps to boost a leader's influence. That's why I included it in my book, The 21 Indispensable Qualities of a Leader. In this lesson, I'd like to examine the causes of charisma and teach you how to increase the charisma you display as a leader.

THE QUALITIES OF A CHARISMATIC LEADER
Charisma is defined as, "The ability to inspire enthusiasm, interest, or affection in others by means of personal charm or influence." Leaders who have this special ability share four things in common:

1) They Love Life
Leaders who attract a following are passionate about life. They are celebrators, not complainers. They're characterized by joy and warmth. They're energetic and radiant in an infectious way.
Look no further than the smile to illustrate the power of charisma. When people see a smile, they respond with a smile. If you're skeptical, try it. Smile at cashiers, waiters, co-workers, etc. You'll find your smile earns a reciprocate smile almost every time. We are hardwired to take on the energy of those around us. Leaders who love life have charisma because they fill the room with positive energy.

2) They Value the Potential in People
To become an attractive leader, expect the best from your people. I describe this behavior as "putting a 10 on everyone's head." Leaders see people, not as they are, but as they could be. From this vantage point, they help others to build a bridge from the present to a preferred future.
Benjamin Disraeli understood and practiced this concept, and it was one of the secrets to his charisma. He once said, "The greatest good you can do for another is not to share your riches but to reveal to him his own." When you invest in people and lift them toward their potential, they will love you for it.

3) They Give Hope
People have an inner longing to improve their future and their fortunes. Charismatic leaders connect with people by painting tomorrow brighter than today. To them, the future is full of amazing opportunities and unrealized dreams.
Napoleon Bonaparte once said, "Leaders are dealers in hope." They infuse optimism into the culture around them, and they boost morale. While attentive to the current reality, they do not resign themselves to present circumstance.

4) They Share Themselves
Leaders with charisma add value to people by sharing wisdom, resources, and even special occasions. They embrace the power of inclusion, inviting others to join them for learning experiences, brainstorming sessions, or simply a cup of coffee. Such leaders embrace team spirit and value togetherness. As a result, charismatic leaders are not lonely at the top.
When it comes to charisma, the bottom line is othermindedness. For leaders, the greatest satisfaction is found by serving. They find great pleasure celebrating the successes of those around them, and the victory they enjoy the most is a team triumph.

SUMMARY
In closing, charisma has substance. It's not manipulative energy or a magical gift endowed upon select personalities. Rather, it's an attractive blend of learnable qualities.
Furthermore, charisma compounds a leader's influence. Without it, leaders have trouble inspiring passion and energizing their teams. With it, leaders draw out the best in their people, give the best of themselves, and find the greatest fulfillment.

The Greatest Motivator

The Greatest Motivator Isn't What You Think—or, What I Learned From Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler on Valentine's Day
by Dr. Joe Vitalewww.mrfire.com

It's Valentine's Day as I write this. Nerissa and I just returned from watching the new movie, "50 First Dates," starting the beautiful Drew Barrymore and the funny Adam Sandler. Besides being a hilarious movie in a beautiful setting with a heartfelt message of true love, it also caused me to have an "a-ha" right in the middle of it.
Somewhere around half way through the movie, as Adam is again reminding short-term memory loss victim Drew that he loves her, I suddenly realized the power of the greatest motivator of all time.
But let me first set the stage.
Most psychologists, direct marketers, and anyone who persuades for a living will tell you there are only two basic motivators: Pain or Pleasure. You either go toward what you want or away from what you don't want.
The standard argument is that pain is more powerful. I've tended to agree, but also stated I would not focus on pain for idealistic reasons. I simply don't want to spread pain in the world. Focusing on it causes you to feel it. I don't want to contribute to the misery many feel. So my stance has been to focus on pleasure as a motivator in my sales letters and websites.
Most marketing experts agree that pain is the best trigger to focus on in any ad or sales campaign. They love to find a prospect's basic problem, and then rub their noses in it. They figure the pain would make the person buy or change.
The most common example they give is the insurance salesman who tries to sell you home coverage. If he focuses on pleasure, you will put off buying. If he tells you your house is on fire, you will buy. Pain causes immediate action.
So, like everyone else, I "knew" pain was the greater motivator. I simply focused on pleasure because it is a more noble route.
But then I saw Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler in their new movie and suddenly I felt awakened, energized, and validated.
Here's the film's plot in a nutshell:
Adam is in love with a woman who can't remember anything from the day before, due to a head injury in an auto accident the year before. Every day is a new day. And every day Adam has to win her over again. Every date is new. Hence the title, "50 First Dates."
At one point in it, as Adam was again wooing Drew, I suddenly realized what I was really seeing.
I saw pleasure was the greatest motivator of all.
Adam was pursuing Drew every day, despite the pain and the odds, because of his growing love for her. He was going after pleasure. The pleasure goal was so powerful it erased every pain he might experience.
In short, all the marketing experts who say pain is the greatest motivator have forgotten the power of our driving force in life: Love.
People will scale mountains with luggage on their backs, swim upstream in a hurricane, and battle armies and all odds in order to fulfill that hard-wired emotion in us to love and be loved. Love rules.
All the examples we were given were unfair. Someone trying to sell insurance and resorting to pain hasn't figured out the real pleasure button to make someone buy. They've been too lazy to search for the pleasure trigger. Focusing on pain was simply an easy cop-out, a handy approach.
It's the same with all the massive ad campaigns that fail. Trying to get someone to quit smoking or stop drugs because of the pain they depict in the ad is the wrong approach. If we suddenly focused on the pleasure someone would have when they stopped smoking or taking drugs, we'd be moving in the right direction.
This is so obvious to me after watching the movie. Our goal as marketing and business people isn't to tell people what's wrong with them or to remind them of their pain, but to help them imagine and then experience the pleasure they long to have.
It's noble, yes, *and* it works.
Love moves everyone.
Love is the great motivator.
Love is the great pleasure trigger.
According to my friend Kevin Hogan, author of "The Psychology of Persuasion," love isn't an emotion but a mindset. And as a mindset, it is actually stronger than any emotion.
In short, you're dealing with the most powerful motivator of all time.
Reveal what there is to love about your product or service and you'll give people authentic reasons to do business with you. Call it Love-Based Marketing. You won't sell everyone with it. You'll sell only those who are a match for your offer. That, in the end, is all you want. Then you're happy and so are your customers.
Just like Drew Barrymore and Adam Sandler, you'll find a match to write home about.
And you might make a little money along the way, to boot.

Pay It Forward

PAY IT FORWARD

“To give pleasure to a single heart by a single act is better than a thousand heads bowing in prayer.

Sadness Story

SADNESS STORY
A story is told about a soldier who was finally coming homeafter having fought in Vietnam.
He called his parents from San Francisco."Mom and Dad, I'm coming home, but I've a favour to ask.I have a friend I'd like to bring home with me." "Sure," they replied, "we'd love to meet him."
"There's something you should know," the son continued,"he was hurt pretty badly in the fighting. He stepped ona land mine and lost an arm and a leg.He has nowhere else to go, and I want him to come live with us."
"I'm sorry to hear that, son. May be we can help himfind somewhere to live." "No, Mom and Dad, I want him to live with us." "Son," said the father, "you don't know what you're asking.Someone with such a handicap would be a terrible burden on us. We have our own lives to live, and we can't let something like thisinterfere with our lives.I think you should just come home and forget about this guy. He'll find a way to live on his own."
At that point, the son hung up the phone. The parents heard nothing more from him.
A few days later, however, they received a call fromthe San Francisco police.Their son had died after falling from a building, they were told. The police believed it was suicide. The grief-stricken parents flew to San Franciscoand were taken to the city morgue to identify the body of their son. They recognized him, but to their horror they alsodiscovered something they didn't know, their son had only one arm and one leg.
The parents in this story are like many of us.We find it easy to love those who are good-lookingor fun to have around, but we don't like people who inconvenience usor make us feel uncomfortable. We would rather stay away from people who aren't as healthy, beautiful, or smart as we are.
Thankfully, there's someone who won't treat us that way.Someone who loves us with an unconditional love that welcomes usinto the forever family, regardless of how messed up we are. Tonight, before you tuck yourself in for the night, say a little prayer that God will give you the strength you needto accept people as they are,and to help us all be more understanding of thosewho are different from us !!!
There's a miracle called Friendship that dwells in the heart. You don't know how it happens or when it gets started. But you know the special lift it always brings. And you realize that Friendship is God's most precious gift!
Friends are a very rare jewel, indeed. They make you smile and encourage you to succeed. They lend an ear, they share a word of praise, and they always want to open their hearts to us.

57 cent, a True Story.

57 cents

Halleleuyah.

Little Leroy

LITTLE LEROY ( ENGLISH )

Little Leroy came into the kitchen where his motherwas making dinner. His birthday was coming up and hethought this was a good time to tell his mother whathe wanted."Mom, I want a bike for my birthday."Little Leroy was a bit of a troublemaker. He hadgotten into trouble at school and at home. Leroy'smother asked him if he thought he deserved to get abike for his birthday.Little Leroy, of course, thought he did.Leroy's mother, being a Christian woman, wanted Leroyto reflect on his behavior over the last year."Go to your room, Leroy, and think about how you havebehaved this year. Then write a letter to God and tellhim why you deserve a bike for your birthday."Little Leroy stomped up the steps to his room and satdown to write God a letter.

Letter 1:Dear God,I have been a very good boy this year and Iwould like a bike for my birthday. I want a red one.Your friend,LeroyLeroy knew that wasn't true. He had not been a verygood boy this year so he tore up the letter andstarted over.

Letter 2:Dear God,I have been an "OK" boy this year. I still wouldreally like a bike for my birthday.LeroyLeroy knew he could not send this letter to Godeither. So he wrote a third letter.

Letter 3:God,I know I haven't been a good boy this year.I am very sorry. I will be a good boy if you just sendme a bike for my birthday. Please!Thank you,Leroy

Leroy knew, even if it was true, this letter was notgoing to get him a bike.By now Leroy was very upset. He went downstairs andtold his mom that he wanted to go to church.Leroy's mother thought her plan had worked as Leroylooked very sad."Just be home in time for dinner,"Leroy's mother told him.Leroy walked down the street to the church on thecorner. Little Leroy went into the church and up tothe altar. He looked around to see ifanyone was there.Leroy bent down and picked up a statue of the VirginMary. He slipped it under his shirt and ran out of thechurch, down the street, into the house, and up to hisroom and sat down with a piece of paper and a pen.Leroy began to write his letter to God.

Letter 4:God,I'VE GOT YOUR MAMA. IF YOU WANT TO SEE HER AGAIN, SENDTHE BIKE.Signed,YOU KNOW WHO
